ACF Equity in Action Initiative

ACF-DCL-21-02
August 16, 2021

The Administration for Children and Families (ACF) has a clear goal to build a more just and equitable nation with systems that treat everyone with fairness. Fairness requires that we meet our communities where they are and not where we want them to be. We must level the playing field and we know that we cannot do this critical work without you

This page provides an overview of the various initiatives that impact Tribal and Native American communities.

ACF hosted the Learning Exchange, a virtual convening, in August 2021 to help you make the most of American Rescue Plan Act (ARP) funding according to the specific needs of your communities. In this convening, you will hear from peers in other localities about promising strategies and approaches implemented to fully harness available resources. The Learning Exchange will include roundtable sessions where participants will meet in smaller, mixed-region groups with colleagues from across the country to brainstorm, problem-solve, and discuss ideas for how to use both supplemental funds and regular appropriations strategically to help their communities and reduce systemic inequities.

The Administration for Children and Families (ACF) is partnering with the U.S. Department of Treasury to encourage tenants and landlords to take advantage of emergency rental assistance available through the American Rescue Plan Act. The rental assistance will help cover rent, utilities, and other housing costs to keep residents in their homes.

ARP Funding Matrix

July 13, 2021

As one of the largest stimulus packages in U.S. history, ARP provides ACF with resources to better serve the children, families, and communities at the center of our mission and build a strong foundation for the next generation.  This table provides an overview of the funding deadlines, including grant release dates for ACF programs.

Within the first 100 days of the Biden-Harris Administration, ACF has taken action to stabilize the child care industry, support children and families impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, provide desperately needed economic relief, restore a child welfare focus at the border, and advance racial equity and supporting underserved communities.

ACF will pursue a robust approach to advancing equity across our programs and processes, with a focus on people of color and others who have been historically underserved, marginalized, and adversely affected by persistent poverty and inequality.

The American Rescue Plan (ARP) provides critical and unprecedented support to children, families, and communities in response to COVID pandemic and resulting economic downturn which have been exacerbated by historic racial injustices.
